Call for Artistic Contributions and Exploratory Practices

The conference theme, “STS In and Out of the Laboratory,” challenges us to reimagine the spaces where knowledge is created, shared, and transformed. Therefore, we invite submissions of experimental, exploratory, and artistic practices that are best presented interactively, outside of a traditional panel format.

 This year, we’re excited to utilize the unique forest setting between KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Stockholm University as our extended laboratory. We encourage submissions that engage with this environment, treating it as both subject and collaborator in your work.

 We welcome proposals for:

 – Forest Labs: Performances that engage with the natural environment and explore the concept of outdoor laboratories.

– Sensory Workshops: Interactive sessions that use the forest’s sights, sounds, smells, and textures to investigate how we perceive and construct knowledge.

– Science-Art Collaborations: Exhibits or performances that translate scientific concepts into artistic expressions, or vice versa.

– Exploratory Methods: Presentations or workshops that engage with new ways of conducting research in and with nature.

– Tech-Nature Hybrids: Explorations of technologies that bridge the gap between digital and natural worlds.

 Proposal Guidelines:
– Submissions should be no longer than 500 words.
– Include the names of the session organizers and email.
– Include a clear description of your proposed activity, its relevance to the conference theme, and how it engages with the forest setting.
– Specify any technical or logistical requirements.
– Indicate the preferred format (e.g., installation, workshop, performance) and estimated duration.

 We encourage submissions from researchers, artists, designers, and practitioners across disciplines. Your proposal should be sent to nordic-sts2025@score.su.se no later than 15th March.
